Happy 1st Birthday!

So recently a friend of mine asked me to make his little girls first birthday cake.  I was so excited to make this cake!  I had also made the cake used in his wedding proposal...so this was SUPER special!

I was told Tutti Frutti was the theme!  All I could think about was LOUD and VIBRANT colors. I really wanted to make this cake EXTRA special! So I went BIG!!

An adorable two tier cake covered in white fondant and sprinkled with loud colored polka dots and garnished with vibrant color splashes!

This cake was fit for any Tutti Frutti Princess! Underneath the fondant was a lush and delicious chocolate cake filled with that distinct and loved, Bakergirl butter cream!  The party goers savored each morsel.  This cake came with lots of little friends too! ENTER THE CUPCAKES! Oh, yeah- this little girl was given the royal treatment! Bakergirl style!

A few dozen of these cakes came along for the ride and were welcomed to the party too! Similar to the cake; chocolate cake topped with delicate butter cream and topped with similar polka dots!

This cake was so much fun to make and I love the fact that it will be remembered and will be seen years to come.  Happy Birthday to the birthday girl!

It's Official! The Bakergirl Concepts website is up!

It's been a long process, but ITS DONE!

For some of you that may not know, I'm a bit of a perfectionist.  That being said, I'm one of those girls that have PLENTY of ideas and visions of how I want something to look.  If it's not that way, I'm not a happy girl.  It also didn't help that being a new business, came budget restraints.  These budget limitations brought that saying, "Champagne taste on a beer budget"into full focus.  So, with the help and input from honest friends and supporters, I've come up with a site that I'm proud of and hope you like it as much.  Here is my official link!

Go ahead, click it and check it out...I'll wait here for you to come back~

Okay...so what did you think? Pretty awesome huh? I KNOW! I've already patted myself on the back (TOTALLY kidding).  After looking at the site, I would really love it if you can provide some feedback.  Let me know if there is something that's missing or something you, my reader would like to see.

Looking forward to hearing from you guys.

Mesquite Street Boutique!

Just before Summer came and the heat made its official appearance there was a local vendor boutique sale.  Mesquite Street Boutique is an annual show that is put on to give local vendors a chance to showcase their goods and crafts to the community.  I was so excited to be a part of this show.  I decided I wanted to featured my delicious cupcakes, caramel and olive oil granola.  Coming up with a menu was so much fun.  I was able to decide the flavors I showcased and made up batches of delicious caramel and wholesome granola.

Here are some pictures from the show! It was so much fun!

Overall, the show was a great success.  I learned a lot and would love to participate in another!

Happy 1st Birthday!

First Birthdays are always so special.  I'm not going to elaborate why...but being a Mommy, I can remember breaking out the notebook and starting to plan my kids 1st birthday as I did when I began to plan my wedding.  Color coded tabs, pictures of decoration ideas, party favor ideas and most of all the THEME! Themes to children's birthday parties are getting to be SO big! There are the princess themes, race car themes, trains, planes and characters. The list goes on and on!

Recently, a women requested a theme that I fell in love with.  The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  My kids love this book so  I was thrilled to make this cake.  She let me know the colors she was decorating with and the general idea of the cake and what she was looking for.  So...I went to work creating her vision!

I first started by reading this loved book.  Getting some inspiration! Then I started to create the garnishes.  The fruit was one of the key features of this cake and an element that would make this cake distinct and adorable!

The sun and Caterpillar were the other features that set this cake apart from just any ordinary cake! These two made their debut on top of the cake, center stage!

Here us the finished product!

This cake was a lot of fun to make and I was happy knowing that this made a little kids first birthday special! Happy 1st Birthday!
